3 budget-friendly DIY v-day gifts

cb-DIY Here are three super easy DIY V-day gifts that friends, family and significant others will love. They’re also cost efficient. Whew. 1. BODY BUTTER: This one’s easy. Purchase a few 2 ounce glass jars from your local health food or crafts store. You likely have several tubs of almost empty shea butter, right? We all do. Take those and empty at least a cup’s worth of butter into a small heated pot. Let it melt until it’s liquified but NOT boiling. Add in a half cup of coconut oil and stir until it’s melted. Remove from heat and, while it’s warm, add essential oils. For a highly fragranced batch, we’d recommend adding 20 drops of your top note (lemongrass, lemon or geranium), 15 drops of your secondary note (grapefruit, orange) and 10 drops of a slightly contrasting yet complimenting note (rosemary, eucalyptus, sage). Stir well and pour the mixture into your jar. Let it stand for a full day. Voila! A signature butter. 2. SPRAY MASSAGE OIL: Purchase a 2 oz amber glass bottle. Fill it with equal parts: 1/4 avocado oil, 1/4 olive oil, 1/4 grape seed oil and 1/4 vitamin E oil. Add a beautifully sensual essential oil blend of 10 drops vanilla essential oil and 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Add in fresh lavender buds and dried hibiscus leaves for cool aesthetics. You can purchase these in the loose leaf tea section of most health food stores. 3. DIY BODY SPRAY: A quick body spray works for everyone. Purchase a glass 2 oz spray bottle. Mix 1 ounce distilled or filtered water, 0.5 oz witch hazel, and 0.5 oz vegetable glycerin. For a unisex blend, mix 10 drops grapefruit essential oil with 8 drops of rosemary essential oil. Add in 2 drops of lime for an additional boost. What are you making this Valentine’s day? Photo credit: @riverbodycompany
