Ayurvedic refers to the world’s oldest holistic whole-body healing systems. Here are some easy treatments to do for weary skin, hair, body and minds during this high-stress time.
CLAY MASKS: Whether you’re sensitive or oily, you should always have this one handy. Bentonite clay is useful in tightening the skin, reducing pore size and ridding of pimples and blackheads. For those battling acne, you can mix the powder with a little apple cider vinegar. Not too much, though. It can be rather drying if you overdo it.
HONEY: Known for its anti-bacterial and moisturizing properties, the Egyptians used honey to soothe and hydrate dry skin. Use it as a fab pre-shower face mask and rinse just before moisturizing and heading out for the day. Honey is also useful in relieving a dandruff-ridden scalp. Slather some on, wrap in saran wrap and let it sit for 30 minutes.
DEAD SEA MINERALS: special salt contains healing minerals that work well to relieve those suffering from psorasis and eczema. To create a facial scrub, make sure to crush your salt crystals to avoid a far too abrasive scrub. Use a rolling pin to smash in a plastic bag. Add nourishing olive oil.
FOUR MORE TIPS TO DE-STRESSING:
Burn a lavender candle. Lavender, known for its soothing scent, helps sedate a weary mind and lulls you to sleep. You can also add a few drops of lavender essential oil to your lotion.
Take a sea salt detox bath. A week of stressing will leave your body full of toxins that can cause sickness. No bueno. A twenty minute soak in a hot tub full of dead sea salt will help pull impurities from your body and you’ll be so relaxed afterwards, you’ll literally feel intoxicated.
Stretch it out. We often feel physically and emotionally bound up because we actually are. Stretching for at least ten minutes allows more oxygen to flow to your vital organs and you’ll feel more refreshed.
Take a Melatonin. If you’re seriously frazzled, pop this calming supplement, known for helping you get a more restful sleep. Half a pill will help do the trick.
